With Mothers Day quickly approaching, finding a gift that’s deserving of your mom can be hard. You want to give them the world, but often all you can afford is a candle. Here is a compiled list of affordable Mother’s Day Gifts for your favorite traveler.
- Infinity Travel Scarf with Zipper pocket and Customizable Snaps– Now there is so many of these out on the market these days, and it’s for good reason. Travel scarfs can come in handy when flying. The scarfs come with hidden pockets that can easily hide cell phones, passports, ID’s, and credit cards. This scarf would also be a game changer when traveling to “sketchier” areas. To be able to have your mind at ease from thieves, will allow you to enjoy your traveling more. While this scarf is slightly more expensive compared to the majority of travel scarves, it’s because it’s much more versatile. Depending on what you need, it can be customized into a scarf, wrap, shawl, hoodie, and even a travel blanket. No more having to lug around a blanket through the airport.
- Passport Case– Etsy is the place to go, if you ever want something made that’s customized. There is plenty of options on what you could have made. If you haven’t already, create an Etsy account. There is so many cute options on different passport cases.
- Scratch Off and Pin Map– Both options have gotten extremely popular lately. The scratch off maps usually come in really vibrant colors and water colors. The Pin maps are usually better for world travelers. They can stick a pin wherever they traveled.
- InstaTravel Book– A lot of you may not have heard of Aggie Lal, especially if you aren’t on Instagram. This girl has crushed the Instagram Travel game for years now. On top of that she’s is a really beautiful person. She recently came out with a book that could bring out the wanderlust in anyone. On top of that she has some amazing travel and photography tips. I’ve seen this book at Target as well as Amazon!
- Hydroflask– Now, I’ve mentioned these a few times. But Hydroflask remains my favorite water bottle. They come in so many cute colors and patterns! They will also keep your favorite beverages cold for HOURS! Which comes in handy for those hot hikes, or long hours spent out on the boat in the summer! Either way, they will always come in handy. Plus having a reusable water bottle, is one of the most Eco-Friendly things you can do for the environment! Check out this article, for more ways to be more environmentally friendly while traveling.
- Universal Outlet Travel Adapter– Now this would come in handy for anyone doing a lot of International Travel. I have a drawer full of random Outlet Adapters, that I’ve spent way to much on. Having a Universal one will save them money, and space by being able to use it all across the globe.
- Inflatable Pillow– I’ve written this before, but I absolutely LOVE this travel pillow. When I traveled to South Africa, a person on the trip was recommended this from their Chiropractor. I’m someone who can not sleep well sitting up. This pillow enables you to put your hands through the pillow, and lean forward. There is also a hole for your face, so you can easily breath. I was able to sleep a large majority of the 21 hour flight to South Africa due to this pillow. Also since the pillow is inflatable, it takes up a minimal amount of space in your carry on.
- Portable Charger– Such a necessity, especially while traveling. While on vacation, you are out doing things all day a lot of the times. Your phone will die easily, and sometimes the are necessary for getting around (Uber, Lift, Google Maps, Google Translate, etc.). Also, some of the time while flying the in-flight charger may not work. And you could be stuck with a dead phone mid-flight. On top of that, we need our phones to take photos and document our adventures. There is so many portable chargers out there. The thing I like most about this one, is that you are able to get many uses out of it.
- Customizable Luggage Tags– Again, whenever it comes to get anything customized, I always look into Etsy. There is so many options, that it’s easy to find something that everyone will love.
- Polaroid Camera– This have also become really popular recently. They are such a fun way to document traveling! Take a quick snap of whats going on, and the picture prints instantly. There are many albums that you can purchase to keep all the photos together. (I’ve found that buying the film on Amazon is often the best deal. They are significantly cheaper than buying it in store).
- Noise Canceling Headphones– These can be huge while flying. You never know who they are going to be seated by! Hopefully you get the entire row to yourself, but more often than not we are seated next to a crying baby. Good headphones can make that flight ten times better! Also make sure to ALWAYS pack a normal set of headphones if you have an Iphone. The headphone jacks are different for Iphones and something a lot of people forget to pack! These are also perfect for someone who may not fly well! Being able to block out those random noises the plane makes, will help them remain calm.
- A Trip– Common sense right? This is one of my favorite things to gift someone actually. I believe the memories and adventures that someone experiences is more valuable than an actually gift. Unfortunately that’s not always in someones price range, since traveling can add up.
- A candle from home or somewhere they love– Now this candle is perfect for anyone that may be gone a long time, has moved, or even just misses a place. There is a lot of different places and brands to choose from. I’ve included a link to my home state of Minnesota!
- Compression Bags– I was shown these bags while on a trip to Nashville, for my sister Ciara’s Bachelorette. One of her good friends Peyton had these amazing compression bags! Basically you throw as much clothes as possible into a vacuum seal bag. Instead of vacuuming the air out, you roll them. Mind you she was the ONLY girl on the trip to be able to fly to Nashville with JUST a carry on. Thats a huge thing to manage, especially on a girls trip like that! This gift would be perfect for anyone that can’t help but overpack.
- TSA Pre-Check- Lucky for you, I see Groupon deals for this all the time! Such a good thing to have for any frequent flyers. After almost missing a few flights, you will see how important getting through TSA quickly can be!

These are really nice ideas for any travel enthusiast. I especially like the travel infinity scarf, it will work great when I want to travel light or don’t have pant pockets. Thanks for the list!
Thanks Tanya. I agree. I love how versatile it could be. Perfect for flying!
I second the noise-canceling headphone and the tip to always bring an extra pair of normal headphones too! Such a great list of gifts for any travel-savvy mother!
Thank you Molly!
I love this list. As a traveling mama myself, I’m always happy to get another travel scarf. They’re so handy! I love the idea to gift TSA precheck. That’s exactly what I would want!
Awesome! I’m glad I put together a good list of ideas!
Great ideas! A scratch off map is something I ave wanted forever, I would love to receive it as a gift! And trips always make great gifts, I agree the memories are worth so much more than items. I have switched to that for my daughter rather than tons of toys! Great list, thanks for sharing.
That’s awesome to hear. If I have kids someday I would like to do the same!
Okay I’ve definitely been living under a rock because – how is this the first time I’m hearing of a travel infinity scarf!!! This is so brilliant!
Purchase one before your next trip and let me know what you think!
